Koljivo or sladko is served, a sweet dish of boiled wheat with honey, nuts, and raisins. Other foods include roasted pork, salads, and homemade desserts after the fast is broken.

Groups of koledari go from house to house singing carols late at night or early morning. Families also light candles, pray before icons, and share blessings and small gifts.
