Expect many shops, banks, and government offices to be closed or on limited hours. Churches hold services and some towns have small folk events. Ski resorts can be busy and roads icy, so check schedules and weather before travel.

Enjoy local food, join a church service or a small village celebration, and be respectful of traditions. Book transport and accommodations early, dress warm, keep valuables safe in crowds, and carry cash because many places may not accept cards.
